Feature Films Competition Section
The Feature Films Competition Section is composed of five films, fictions and documentaries from South America, Central America, North America, Africa and Europe. The narratives’ themes, though they’re distinct, establish dialogues between each other, making a small panorama of contemporary issues related to sexual and gender diversity. The formal approaches, widely diverse among the films, take different esthetics, from commercial films to experimentalism and novelty of language.
Short Films Competition Section
The Short films Competition Section is organized in four sessions and encompasses films from Brazil’s five regions and from other six countries, including fiction, documentary, hybridism, animation and video clip. Exploring both established and experimental forms, this Festival’s set of films points to the variation in esthetic-discursive approaches of themes widely relevant.
The Regional Section aims for putting over a panorama of films made in State of Paraná whose themes are relevant to sexual and gender diversity. The exhibition space for local films is not only an opportunity for Curitiba public to watch the movies – who, most of the time, doesn’t know the city’s and state’s film productions – but also an invitation to collective reflection and discussion about what, who and how cinema and audiovisual productions are made in Paraná.
The Youth Section is composed of eight short films, divided in two sessions, each one dedicated to a specific age group. The session dedicated to kids (from 9 to 12-year-old) shows animation films which foster, in a didactic and accessible way, the respect for differences and the sense of otherness. The session for teens (from 13 to 16-year-old) presents films which excite the reflection about familiar, affective and self-love relationships in teenage phase.
